First Look: Bryant Giles x ASICS GT-2160
Featuring seven layers of paint in the midsole that reveal a rainbow beneath as the shoe wears.
[Update 11 Apr 2024] While official release details on the GT-2160 remain scanty at this time, images of a Bryan Giles x ASICS apparel collection have now surfaced. Check them out in the gallery above as we await further updates.
Bryant Giles—a contemporary artist, designer, and director based between Los Angeles and Tokyo—isn’t slowing down on footwear collaborations. Succeeding his joint effort with New Balance in 2022 (Bryant Giles x New Balance 2002R and 2002RM), he now moves forward with ASICS with his own take on the popular GT-2160.
The titular pair is presented in a clean aesthetic with mismatched houndstooth-patterned laces in contrasting shades. A crisp White upper is complemented by subtle cream leather overlays, presiding over the wide-spaced mesh base.
While Giles’ branding is absent from the upper, a personal touch is present, by way of a hang tag featuring his hand-drawn smiley face. Underneath the striking Blue foam midsole hides a secret: seven layers of paint that reveal a rainbow beneath as the shoe wears. Underfoot, durability is attested to by the black outsole.
Information regarding the Bryant Giles x ASICS GT-2160 is scant at the time of writing, but Giles himself has hinted that it might be an F&F exclusive. The design is part of Gone Homme’s “I’m Alive” Collection, featuring collaborative apparel set for a Japan-only release.
Nevertheless, more details and images should surface in the coming weeks so stay tuned! In the meantime, check out Drake’s regal Nike Air Jordan 20 PE collection.
