Pokémon TCG Giratina VSTAR

Giratina VSTAR decks have been among the Pokémon TCG metagame’s most dominant for quite some time now. The upcoming Pokémon Europe International Championships (EUIC) are likely to see many decks built around the Pokémon VSTAR form of the Renegade Pokémon.

Introduced in the VSTAR Universe [S12a] expansion set, Giratina VSTAR decks are often built around sending as many cards as possible to the Lost Zone. This is where Giratina VSTAR’s Lost Impact attack comes in. On top of inflicting a massive 280 damage, the attack also requires the player to place two Energy cards attached to the player’s Pokémon into the Lost Zone.

Subsequently, when the situation calls for it, the player can use Star Requiem, Giratina VSTAR’s VSTAR Power. Once per game, this VSTAR Power scores an insta-KO on the opponent’s Pokémon as long as the player has 10 or more cards in the Lost Zone.

More recently, it’s been found that Giratina VSTAR pairs well with Arceus VSTAR from VSTAR Universe [S12a]. This pairing provides favorable matchups against Ancient Box, Future Box, Snorlax Stall, and Lost Box decks. Giratina VSTAR provides the offensive punch to go with Arceus VSTAR’s stability.

Visually, this Ultra Rare (UR) card’s Full Art illustration depicts Giratina VSTAR in the Distortion World—as do so many cards featuring Giratina. The chaotic imagery and color scheme is not only befitting of the Pokémon universe’s reverse dimension—its juxtaposition with the card’s gold border and prism-colored VSTAR logos in the corners provide intriguing contrast.

In English, this card is card GG69/GG70 of the Crown Zenith set.

A peak-condition Giratina VSTAR (VSTAR Universe [S12a] 261/172) card of UR rarity has a sale price of 20,370 JPY (~US$135).
