A quick shoutout to anyone who knows why this Pokémon and its pre-evolution's physical forms and name conventions are the reverse of those of their Galarian counterparts.

Pokémon TCG Sinistcha ex

The recently-released Pokémon TCG Crimson Haze expansion set Crimson Haze [SV5a] is based on The Teal Mask, the first DLC of the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet video games. One of the Pokémon introduced in that DLC was Sinistcha—thus, it was always expected that it would be featured on one of the standout cards of Crimson Haze [SV5a].

This Special Art Rare (SAR) card’s Full Art illustration shows Sinistcha ex leaning over the edge of its bowl, surveying the surroundings of the attic it’s in. The illustration alludes to Sinistcha’s in-universe lore. Canonically, Sinistcha prefers cool, dark areas much like the attic depicted.

On a related note, there’s an additional detail which the most serious Pokémon fans might have worked out. That information about Sinistcha’s preference for cool, dark areas is only revealed in-game if the player obtains a Sinistcha in its Unremarkable Form rather than its Masterpiece Form. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Sinistcha ex that features on this card is an Unremarkable Form Sinistcha.

Since this Sinistcha ex card is one of a Pokémon that’s been newly introduced to the Pokémon series, its novelty factor is more than likely boosting its value as of right now. The general popularity of the Crimson Haze [SV5a] expansion set will, however, probably cause this card’s value to stabilize soon.

This card will be released in English as part of the Twilight Masquerade [TWM] expansion set.

A Sinistcha ex (Crimson Haze [SV5a] 089/066) is relatively affordable for a Full Art card of SAR rarity—one copy sells for 1,800 JPY (~US$12).
