[Pokémon TCG] Psychic Fury Unleashed: Mewtwo Master Ball Mirror (Pokémon Card 151 [SV2a] 150/165)
There's no Pokémon for which a Master Ball Mirror version is more fitting.
Mewtwo holds an iconic status within the Pokémon franchise as a whole—not merely in the Pokémon TCG. In the video games, it was the first example of a Pokémon specifically designed to be overpowered. However, the moment which forever sealed its reputation was its appearance in the first Pokémon anime movie.
Given all of this, it came as no surprise that the Master Ball Mirror version of the Mewtwo card from Pokémon Card 151 [SV2a] was one of the set’s most coveted cards. The illustration depicts Mewtwo unleashing a psychic attack with such force that it almost looks as though the image’s borders themselves are being warped.
Ordinarily, the fact that this card is in its Master Ball Mirror form would be enough to jack up its value. However, in this case, the fact that it’s a Mewtwo card comes into play as well.
According to the in-universe Pokémon canon, the Master Ball is the most powerful Poké Ball. It has long been associated with Mewtwo—indeed, many video game guides from the first generation specifically advise new players to save their Master Ball for use on Mewtwo. Thus, this connection elevates the card’s value in ways that other Master Ball Mirror cards could never have.
This card’s English version is card 150/165 from the 151 [MEW] set.
One copy of a Mewtwo Master Ball Mirror (Pokémon Card 151 [SV2a] 150/165) card has a retail price of 10,000 JPY (~US$66).
