[Pokémon TCG] Cobalion’s Descendant Enters the Fray: Iron Crown ex (Cyber Judge [SV5M] 094/071)
SAR versions of Paradox Pokémon cards are clearly some of the biggest pulls of ninth-generation Pokémon TCG sets.
Introduced in The Indigo Disk, the second DLC for the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet video games, Iron Crown was the third and last of the futuristic descendants of the Swords of Justice Legendary Pokémon trio to be brought into the Pokémon video games. Subsequently, Cobalion’s descendant was added to the Cyber Judge [SV5M] Pokémon TCG expansion set where it became among the standout cards.
The card’s Special Art Rare (SAR) illustration by nagimiso features the Steel/Psychic-type Paradox Pokémon standing atop a tree branch somewhere in Area Zero—the secluded home of all Paradox Pokémon according to the series’ canon. Against the backdrop of a brilliant full moon, the card’s imagery highlights Iron Crown ex’s imperious, commanding aura.
Gameplay-wise, Iron Crown ex is ideal for augmenting decks containing other Future Pokémon. Its Cobalt Command ability hands a +20 damage boost to all of the player’s Future Pokémon’s attacks except for those of Iron Crown ex itself. Iron Crown ex’s sizeable HP of 220 also gives it significant staying power.
In English, this card is part of the Temporal Forces [TEF] set as card 206/162.
A copy of an Iron Crown ex (Cyber Judge [SV5M] 094/071) card of SAR rarity costs 5,200 JPY (~US$35).
