Anyone who’s been following this website for long enough will be familiar with the newly-created Quarter Century Secret Rare rarity, introduced for the 25th anniversary of the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG. Among the cards of this rarity is Nightmare Apprentice from the Legacy of Destruction Core Booster.

In addition to its unique rarity, this card boasts a novelty factor as an Illusion card. Illusion cards are among the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG’s newest, having been introduced in April 2023 as part of the Duelist Nexus Core Booster.

The card’s utility plays a part in elevating its value. Easy to play as it can be Special Summoned simply by discarding a single card from the player’s hand, it allows the player to add any other Illusion monster to the player’s hand once per turn. Additionally, this card can’t be destroyed by an opposing monster in battle.

Of course, we can’t overlook the fact that this card depicts a female character in a rather form-fitting outfit. Considering the demographics of most of the fanbase, this factor certainly jacks up the card’s appeal.

Like other cards in the Legacy of Destruction Core Booster, this card will have an English release on 25 April 2024.

A Quarter Century Secret Rare version of a Nightmare Apprentice (Legacy of Destruction LEDE-JP012) card sells for ¥24,800 (~US$169).
