Designer Martine Ali’s penchant for ’90s grunge culture and silver chain jewelry is well-known. She’s now bringing her unmistakable aesthetic touch to a second collaboration with Converse. Having already worked with Converse on the highly regarded Martine Ali x Converse Chuck 70 “Deluxe Wedge”, she’s at it again—this time on the upcoming Martine Ali x Converse WMNS Chuck 70 “XXHi”.

What makes the “XXHi” unique is the fact that it’s a sneaker on the foot but stretches all the way up to the knee, transitioning from a sneaker to a knee-high boot. On the sneaker portion, the classic Converse elements all remain—the metallic eyelets, rubberized toe cap, and star patch on the medial side.

Ali’s concepts shine through with the lockdown straps and metallic silver hardware—both common in grunge-inspired footwear. For functionality and wearability, there’s a zipper along the spine of the heel.

The black vulcanized rubber midsole comes with a dark gum rubber outsole to maximize durability. To cap things off, Martine Ali’s branding can be seen on the sole of the heel.

The Martine Ali x Converse WMNS Chuck 70 “XXHi” will drop in March 2024 through Nike SNKRS, Converse, and select retailers online and in-store. Exclusively available in women’s sizing, the retail price hasn’t yet been finalized.
