Three decades ago, Orlando Magic guard Penny Hardaway was one of the most promising young stars in the NBA. Such was his popularity that even “Lil’ Penny”, his puppet alter ego from a series of mid-’90s ads, became iconic in its own right. Now, Nike has made a nostalgic shout-out to Lil’ Penny with the drop of the Nike Air Max Penny 1 “Penny Story”.

This sneaker is constructed from a blend of mesh, leather, and nubuck. The color scheme includes White, Light Lemon Twist, Field Purple, and Anthracite.

The heels, rubber outsole, and Swooshes feature Penny’s signature “1 Cent” logo. Finishing things off are an Anthracite midsole with a Zoom Air in the forefoot, as well as a Light Lemon Twist Air Max unity in the heel.

The Nike Air Max Penny 1 “Penny Story” was released on 10 February 2024 at Nike.com and select retailers. The price of one pair is US$180.
