Pokémon TCG Release: Battle Academy and Anywhere, Anytime Battle Academy
These sets are mainly targeted at newer players.
While awaiting the launch of the Crimson Haze expansion set on 22 March 2024—the next expansion set of the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG)’s Scarlet and Violet era—another release is about to happen. Creatures Inc. have announced that the Battle Academy and Anywhere, Anytime Battle Academy sets are about to be released.
Targeted at new Pokémon TCG players who may be just getting the hang of how to play the Pokémon Trading Card Game, the Battle Academy set comes with four 60-card decks built around a Pokémon ex: Sprigatito ex, Pikachu ex, Lucario ex, and Greninja ex respectively. Other Pokémon ex to feature in these decks include Houndstone ex, Armarouge ex, Darkrai ex, and Melmetal ex.
While in general, all Pokémon ex rank among the rarest Pokémon cards of their sets and thus are of high value, there should be little question that of these eight, Pikachu ex will almost certainly fetch the highest price on the open market. As the face of the Pokémon franchise, its popularity has only grown through the decades—hence, its value will likely outpace those of its Pokémon ex peers.
The Greninja ex and Sprigatito ex cards are also likely to be among this set’s most expensive Pokémon cards. Starter Pokémon and their evolutions tend to go for relatively high prices. When combined with these cards’ status as Pokémon ex, their respective values will probably experience a bump.
Also included in the Battle Academy set are the usual Pokémon TCG essentials—damage counters, poison/burn markers, a rulebook, a playmat, and storage containers for cards and counters.
The Anywhere, Anytime Battle Academy set is a pocket version of the Battle Academy set. It includes two decks—the Sprigatito ex and Pikachu ex decks—as well as two half-playmats, damage counters, poison/burn markers, and a damage counter storage bag.
