Nike Jordan 6 Rings “Black Cement”: Back in Black
A sneaker combining elements from multiple iconic Air Jordans through the years.
The Nike Jordan 6 Rings “Black Cement” brings together elements from some of the most beloved and well-known Air Jordans through the years. This approach mirrors that used for past Jordan 6 Rings colorways.
The color palette is an obvious allusion to the Air Jordan 4 “Black Cement”—a sneaker that remains one of the crown jewels in Jordan Brand’s entire history to this very day. An upper which is mainly black is tinged with red accents to add both contrast and vibrancy.
The sneaker’s white midsoles not only combine aesthetics and comfort; they also reflect Jordan Brand’s heritage because white midsoles have always been commonly found on Jordan Brand shoes. Mid-grey accents, patent leather, and a ballistic mesh upper reference Tinker Hatfield’s contributions; the accents are call-backs to his late 1980s designs while the leather and mesh bring to mind his work on the Air Jordan 11.
But the “Black Cement” 6 Rings goes beyond just color. The white midsoles are a classic Jordan Brand feature, offering both style and comfort. The mid-grey accents evoke Tinker Hatfield’s designs from the late 1980s, while the patent leather and ballistic mesh upper reference his later work on the Air Jordan 11.
The Nike Jordan 6 Rings was released via select retailers and Nike.com on 29 January 2024. A pair of these sneakers costs US$170.
