The COSTS x ASICS GT-2160 “SHAO JI” Gets a Wider Release on 28 November
Inspired by bamboo baskets used for rice-washing.
[Update 27 Nov 2023] Following its initial drop on 24 November at COSTS, the COSTS x ASICS GT-2160 “SHAO JI” will now get a wider release on ASICS.com on 28 November, 12AM (ET). Set aside US$140 and keep a lookout!
Shenzhen-based boutique COSTS reunites with ASICS to succeed their COSTS x ASICS GEL-LYTE III released back in August. This time, utilizing the GT-2160 which has grown in popularity this year, thanks to collaborators the likes of Dime and Cecilie Bahnsen, who has taken on the silhouette in two occasions.
The COSTS x ASICS GT-2160 “SHAO JI” takes its design cues mainly from the shāo jī, bamboo baskets used for rice-washing. The palette resembles as such with Oatmeal White addressing the suede overlays, juxtaposed against a tonal mesh base layer.
Navy introduces some contrast surrounding the ASICS branding on the quarter, and the tongue loop presided over by kanji. Alternate laces are offered as well, featuring co-branded imprints throughout. Other branding elements appear on the heel and insoles, where graphics of the titular basket shares real estate with their logos.
The pair is scheduled to drop on 24 November at COSTS’ website with an RRP of 890 CNY (~US$120). Keep a lookout for them then and there! Till then, enjoy a look at the campaign images in the gallery above.
