[Update 3 Nov 2023] With the grand opening of OTSUMO PLAZA nearly upon us, the concept store has taken to Instagram to preview what’s releasing on their first day, which can only be summarized as an “absolute banger” if you’re a fan of Verdy’s labels.

Highlighting the grand opening of OTSUMO PLAZA are some store-exclusive items designed by Verdy. Prominently featuring his mascot Vick, a t-shirt, tote bag, keychains and pins will be part of the lineup.

Exclusive Human Made x Girls Don’t Cry items are also set to be re-released at OTSUMO PLAZA tomorrow, including their co-branded t-shirt, caps, and pins.

Lastly, Verdy’s very own Wasted Youth label will see an in-store and an worldwide online release on Human Made’s website tomorrow at 11AM JST. The collection includes Budweiser collaborative items such as a Drizzler Jacket, Coach Jacket, Chino Pants, Work Shirt, Soccer Shirt, caps, beanies, a rug, and other accessories. These items will range from US$11 for the carabiner, to US$244 for the Drizzler Jacket.

Two of Japan’s most popular designers at the moment, NIGO and Verdy, are set to come together once more on a massive project. On 4 November, the duo are set to open OTSUMO PLAZA, a new concept store based in the heart of Tokyo’s fashion scene, Aoyama. To note, this is the same space which used to house Hiroshi Fujiwara’s concept store, the POOL Aoyama, as well as the former NIKE LAB MA5.

OTSUMO, the company behind NIGO’s Human Made label, opened a shared atelier last year named OTSUMO CENTRE. This is where Verdy, the man behind labels such as Girls Don’t Cry and Wasted Youth, currently has his studio set up as well.

“Just llike the Tokiwaso, the apartment where Showa manga artists gathered, I want to make OTSUMO CENTRE a place that embodies the activities of the creators, who will lead the next generation of Japan,” NIGO®︎ explained via an OTSUMO PLAZA Instagram post.

OTSUMO PLAZA will act as a concept store that not only sells the two designers’ items, but also act as a platform for new creators of the OTSUMO CENTRE to showcase and sell their products.

To start off, OTSUMO PLAZA will house both NIGO’s Human Made and Verdy’s Wasted Youth apparel and accessories. To note, this will be the first physical store in which Verdy’s products will consistently be available.

For now, check out some images of the new OTSUMO PLAZA concept store via the top slider above. If you’re a fan of either designer as much as we are, it’d be best to start planning a trip to Tokyo!
