LA-based AIREI teams up with ASICS for a special interpolation of the GT-2160, as part of the latter’s Crafts for Minds program, in the name of charity. Only 50 pairs are produced and proceeds usually go to a mental health organization, which at this time, is children’s charity Right To Play. 

Based on the theme of AIREI’s Fall/Winter 2023 collection, “Refuge, Defuge, Transfuge”, the titular model gets heavily coated with plaster that cracks with use, revealing the shoes design underneath. The motif is applied to the shoebox as well.

Aside from the plaster its coated with, the GT-2160 retains much of its signatures. It features a white mesh base layer with metallic silver overlays. Therein are orange hues that also accents the midsole.

There won’t be an online release for the pair and they will be exhibited by 3537 from 22 June. Enjoy the images at the gallery above. It’s as close as most of us will get to it.
