LINE

New Balance is an archetype of the vintage aesthetic, their identity synonymous with it; even more with their back catalogue seeing new life decades after its debut. Case in point: The New Balance 996 first released in 1988, celebrating its 35th anniversary this year. To mark the occasion, a two-pack that contains a “Grey” and “Navy” colorway is set for release. An addition to another “35th Anniversary” 996 that was reported earlier.

Both pairs feature a mesh base layer and hairy suede overlays, with a tonal application of colors distinguishing the two. A lighter hue dresses the former of both pairs with contrast added by a darker shade on the latter.

Unique to this model, the “N” logo that’s usually on the profiles are absent. In its place is the “NB” emblem embroidered solely on the lateral, with the medial void of any branding element giving off a clean look to the design. Instead, the aforementioned “N” logo is introduced by way of a hangtag on the laces. The design is completed with the hallmark ENCAP midsole.

There aren’t any release details yet but expect them to arrive within the year! When more information does surface, you’ll find out about it here so stay tuned!
