Studio FY7 Teases a Collaboration with New Balance Lifestyle
To paraphrase their words: your summer just got a whole lot better.
[Update 13 Jun 2023] More images of the Studio FY7 x New Balance 576 have now arrived, revealing its embroidered dual branding on the shoe tongue. Take a look at the shots above as we await for more updates prior to its release on 23 June.
[Update 5 Jun 2023] A new image of the Studio FY7 x New Balance has now surfaced, which reveals its form of a MADE in UK 576 model. The main color palette takes on the teaser image, opting for a black upper build, contrasted by Turquoise accents on the N profiles.
While there are no additional details on the Studio FY7 x New Balance 576, the pair is slated to release on 23 June. Until then, we will keep you informed on updates to come.
Studio FY7 is a Paris-based creative agency founded by Younes Bendjima, a model who’s also famous in pop culture for dating Kourtney Kardashian. His studio’s designs heavily draw upon his combined Algerian and French roots, featuring elements and utilising materials reminiscent of Bendjima’s childhood.
This isn’t the first collaboration Studio FY7 has had with New Balance–in Oct 2020, they conducted an extremely limited release of the Studio FY7 x New Balance 992, only dropping 250 pairs right at the hour when Paris was shutting down for their Covid-19 curfew. Of course, they sold out almost immediately.
Now, the duo is back for their second collab, hinting at a Summer 2023 release via a post on Studio FY7’s Instagram (pictured in the slider above), which depicts a wave crashing from a bright blue sea onto a black void, superimposed with the two brands’ logos. Though this could be nothing more than an indication that a collaboration is in the works, it could also include more easter eggs and subtle clues as to what the new creation will look like. While the Studio FY7 x NB992 featured date-colored brown insoles to represent Biskra, Algeria (his mother’s birth city), this new release might focus more on tropical, oceanic colors inspired by the Mediterranean Sea separating his French and Algerian roots. A sneaker and/or streetwear drop in that realm also fits in with a release date at the peak of summer between June to August.
Obviously, this is all speculation, but that’s what makes this drop exciting. There’s no concrete release details as of now, so your eyes glued, and look forward to further updates on this collaboration!
In other sneaker-related news, another Europe-based fashion label, GANNI, will be collaborating with New Balance on their popular 1906R silhouette.
