Every dog has its day and the shoe dogs of New Balance and Aimé Leon Dore have been having theirs, plenty of them by now. It’s a match a made in heaven, a duo that fits like a glove, from NB’s vintage silhouettes, to ALD’s varsity aesthetic proclivities. There’ve been more teased recently to ascertain what’s in the pipeline like the 550 and 1906R. In their ever-expanding story together, comes a new take on the 650R.

It’s a familiar look with some modifications however—albeit minor. One is the color-blocking wherein the color sees an application in more parts in the standard release, the sample pair sees a restrained approach accented only on the strip on the ankle collar, the heel bracket below, and the topmost eyelet. The rest, from base layer to overlays, comes in white.

Another part where it deviates is the construction, the most noteworthy one being the “N” logo on the profiles. Here, it becomes a window that gives visibility to, and frames the mesh interior. The outsole as well comes equipped with a uniform gum rubber outsole as opposed to the tri-color design of its predecessor.

Not much is known about the pair just yet with the limited view provided by the leaked image by @dane3fune. When more information does surface though, expect to find them here. Stay tuned!
