PUMA has never been one to shy away from youthful pop-culture icons such as Pokémon, Kamen Rider, and more recently The Flash. Soon to join the esteemed list of collaborators is the Belgian comic franchise The Smurfs, who are working on a PUMA Slipstream Low themed around its “Purple Smurfs” faction.

Also known as the “Gnap Smurf”, our favorite blue human-like characters turn purple and evil if they contract the “purple disease” in the franchise. “Gnap” comes from the sound they make when they hop around, which is showcased through this Puma Slipstream Low collaboration.

The Smurfs x Puma Slipstream Low “Purple Smurf” sees its leather base dressed completely in purple, while a darker shade appears on the suede overlays. The Smurfs’ branding appears in the form of two disgruntled “Purple Smurfs” embossed on the heel, while the tongue showcases both a “Purple Smurf” and a “Purple Fly”, which is the carrier of the aforementioned disease. A bright orange “GNAP!” tab appears above the PUMA Formstrip, creating the only contrast on the sneaker’s upper.
