The Kamen Rider (Masked Rider) series is one of Japan’s most famous Tokusatsu (live-action film or TV drama that usually features superheroes and special effects) TV series of all time. This year, the franchise celebrates its 50th anniversary with the release of the Shin Kamen Rider film. Joining in on the celebration is Puma and atmos, who have collaborated to create a Kamen Rider x atmos x Puma Suede VTG.

Serving as a reboot of the original 1971 Kamen Rider TV series, the new movie released in Japan on 18 March, and will make its way to the US on 31 May. In the film, the iconic Kamen Rider 1’s outfit is updated, and serves as the inspiration behind the Kamen Rider x atmos x Puma Suede VTG.

Working off the Puma Suede VTG, which is an acronym for Vintage, Kamen Rider 1’s legendary teal and black share real estate on the suede upper. The legendary character’s hallmark red scarf takes the form of Puma’s Formstrip on the midpanel. The new and updated Kamen Rider logo appears on the tongue tab, while a repeated co-branded graphic adorns the insole.

A silver metallic Kamen Rider hangtag accompanies the sneaker, which features a silhouette of Kamen Rider in the middle of his signature transformation phase. Joining the Puma Suede VTG is a co-branded apparel collection, similarly themed in terms of colors to the sneaker.
