SSZ is a sub-label of BEAMS, the iconic Japanese retailer and the original purveyor of Americana in the country. Tadayuki Kato bought BEAMS and introduced SSZ, an acronym of surf, skate, and zine—the original three tenets of the streetwear subculture.

By now, Beams and Vans are very familiar with each other with the former licensed with plenty of exclusive releases from the Californian brand. Furthering this partnership, comes this reimagining of Vans’ iconic Era and Slip-On silhouettes.

They stay close to its blueprint (pun intended) with navy engulfing the entirety of the suede upper, save for the white accents on the eyestays, laces of the Era, and the leather heel overlay. They’re supported by a white midsole and the signature waffled, transparent outsole underfoot. The two pairs are completed with the tripartite branding on the footbed.

Find them on Beams’ brick-and-mortar from 13 May with a wider online release on the 15th. They’re priced at JPY13,200 (~US$98).

Elsewhere, check out the fragment x Converse apparel collection said to accompany the Weapon.
