It wouldn’t be Nike’s first foray into college-themed sneakers. Back in the ’80s they partnered with some esteemed universities for their “College Color High” series. Decades later, the sneaker behemoth has been bringing more HBCUs into the fold. The athletes from North Carolina A&T has gotten their pair of the Dunk Lows and so will their counterparts in Florida A&M University.

The special-edition Dunk Low is dressed in FAMU’s team colours of orange and green over the usual white base. The school’s rattlesnake mascot, the Rattler, sits on the tongue tab complemented by the snakeskin print on the underside of the crystal rubber outsole.

1887, the year of the university’s founding, is embroidered on the heel tab and the words “We Bragg Different” on the heel counter. “COLAC” – an acronym for College of Love and Charity – sits on the lateral forefoot, with the green Swoosh as the final broad stroke to complete the aesthetic.

Unfortunately, there is no news about the exact release date of this HBCU-inspired Dunk Lows but there is optimism that it may be soon. When it arrives, it may be available on Nike.com and select retailers. Stay tuned!
