Atoms and YouTuber Marques Brownlee Collaborate on a High-Top Sneaker
Named the "251" in honor of Brownlee's first ever YouTube video.
Marques Brownlee is a YouTuber who focuses on technology-related products. Be it a new Android phone or an iPad, he’s usually one of the trusted go-tos for honest reviews. Now, innovative footwear brand Atoms is tapping on the YouTuber to co-create a sneaker, namely the Atoms x MKBHD “251”.
Known professionally as MKBHD, Brownlee boasts a whopping 17 million subscriber count on YouTube, making him one of the biggest content creators on the platform. The partnership between him and Atoms actually began during the COVID-19 pandemic, when he bought a mask from the brand. The relationship blossomed into the “251” sneaker today.
Essentially, it’s a simple design meant for everyday use, which is Atoms’ brand ethos. A high-top sneaker at its core, the “251” is constructed to be lightweight, non-slip and comfortable. Antimicrobial copper-thread also lines the shoe, killing bacteria and prevents odour.
The sneaker itself is created using 100% vegan and recyclable materials, which features a combination of black mesh and synthetic leather. On the heel, a red tab featuring the titular “251” is embossed, which is a shoutout to the duration of Marques Brownlee’s first ever YouTube video, 2 minutes and 51 seconds.
Check out the Atoms x MKBHD “251” via the top slider above. You can purchase one now via the Atoms website at a price of US$189, but only available until 23 May.
