The Transformation of the Converse All Star by WHIZLIMITED and mita sneakers

A fashion-centric makeover of the classic, archetypal shoe.

Over its century-long history, there’ve been countless iterations of the Converse quintessence. It’s a practice that continues to this day with this new fashion-centric makeover.

Holistically, it stays faithful to the blueprint with the signature “CONVERSE ALL-STAR” patch on the medial; the “ALL-STAR” tag vulcanized onto the heel of the rubber sole unit; as well as the canvas upper. However, it’s where it also begins to deviate. It features a patchwork motif blending into the black canvas. It’s most notable feature however would have to be the dual-option lacing system.

It comes with a modular layer carrying a zip to shroud the laces. Alternatively, it can be reverted to its classic make by removing it, and lacing up the shoes traditionally. Adding to its uniqueness, is the quaint embroidery of WHIZLIMITED’s branding on the lateral heel.

Enjoy the cornucopia of images at the gallery above while waiting for the 29 April release date. Find them on the tripartite’s webstores with an RRP of JPY22,000 (~US$163).

On the topic of modular footwear designs, check out the Bodega x Crocs All-Terrain “NICT-TECH” Clog that’s releasing soon too.
