First Look: DJ Clark Kent x Nike Air Force 1 Low “The List”
One of hip-hop's greatest has always had the "plug", whether it's for the turntables or the shoes.
DJ Clark Kent is one of hip-hop’s greatest DJs, and one of the sneakersphere’s biggest collectors, possessing more ‘grails’ than the Knights Templar. But he wasn’t just in it for himself, over the years he’s hooked his friends & family with theirs too. Just recently, he left a pair of “Lost & Found” AJ1 at a random corner in a park for anyone to find and keep for themselves. He’s also had on feet some mythic pairs that most of the world’s only ever seen on photos. Now, that generosity is rewarded with his very own Air Force Ones.
Called “The List”—he’s been teasing the titular pair on his Instagram and this’s the first time it’s been seen holistically. The name refers to an enigmatic entity that connects an exclusive group to some exclusive shoes. He clarifies on the platform that it refers to four friends, saying “We don’t believe in ANY list. We just want to help each other out. For the love of sneakers.”
The AF1s arrive with a polychromatic palette, chaperoned with a bevy of thematic details. Every panel of the shoe comes with a different color—a mix of primary and pastel. Pebbled leather forms the entirety of the upper’s build, save for the interior in a synthetic, perforated fabric. All of which sit atop a white midsole and a gum rubber outsole.
“FRIENDS” and “FAMILY” are embroidered disparately on the lateral heels, and on the heel panels are “GODs” [sic] and “Favorite”. DJ Clark Kent’s logo sits on the tongue tag of one pair with “#TheLIST” on the other. The mark makes another appearance on the footbed of the left pair, while on the right sees “Clark”, “Abdul”, “Magdi”, “All Day”, the aforementioned four, on the right. A final flourish comes by way of the glistening finish on the leather exterior.
There’s no word yet whether there will be a public release or will it be exclusively for the coterie. While he’s always provided a plug for his inner circle, he should let the public have this one. The world will find out in time to come. Stay tuned!
