[Update 3 Mar 2023] The brand new ASICS GEL-NYC silhouette will officially make its debut today, 3rd March. Out of all the eight inline colorways, the first two to hit the shelves will be the “Cream/Steel Grey” and the “Black/Clay Grey” as pictured below. You can grab them now on ASICS’ website via the link on the sidebar.

[Update 17 Feb 2023] A new colorway that was previously unseen has recently been revealed. Visually differing itself from the rest of the collection, a cool wave of navy blue and grey washes over the new ASICS GEL-NYC silhouette, perhaps influenced by the New York Yankees of sorts. While release dates have not been confirmed for any of the eight inline colorways, expect them to start dropping as the year progresses. We’ll keep you updated as soon as we can.

ASICS is debuting a range of daily sneakers featuring a brand new silhouette. The ASICS GEL-NYC first made their appearance last month via the final Awake NY x ASICS collab. Designed by Awake NY’s Angelo Baque and combining elements from older ASICS models, the collaborative kicks stand out with two flamboyant colorways, “Teal/Pink” and “Purple/Gold”.

Now, ASICS is looking to introduce this latest iteration from its all-time favorite GEL series to more people. ASICS’ own inline ASICS GEL-NYC sneakers reprises the same mesh-and-suede construction as the original Awake NY version.

The sleek, streamlined upper, reminiscent of Y2K runners, takes its cues from the GEL-NIMBUS 3 and GEL-MC PLUS V from the early 2000s. Similarly, ASICS’ tooling is referenced in the midsole cushioning with the appearance of the GEL-CUMULUS 16. The Awake logo around the heel has also now been replaced with ASICS’ logo.

Baque’s vision for the GEL-NYC is a daily sneaker that “fans can wear on the day-to-day”. For the upcoming release of ASICS GEL-NYC, a slew of colorways has been scheduled, with a “Black Clay Grey” set to drop first. The ASICS GEL-NYC “Black Clay Grey” features a black mesh topped off with suede overlays in grey and beige, and synthetic leather in silver. Yellow accents via ASICS branding on the heel and tongue areas help to add some contrast to the tonal model.

While release details such as the price and drop date have not been confirmed, official images have surfaced, signalling an imminent release. Browse through the first looks of the ASICS GEL-NYC and stay tuned to this space for more updates of this fresh silhouette from ASICS.
