[Update 28 Mar 2023] Do whatever you will with the pair; cozy up in them, look at them and question your decisions, or keep them as a mantlepiece, you can get your hands on them come 31 March when they release on Palace’s website.

LINEIf you find yourself scratching your head at this one, don’t worry—you’re not the only one.

To be completely fair, Palace as a brand has never been afraid to venture into the unconventional. The quirky skateboarding label has been at the forefront of streetwear trends, spinning their creativity on both in-house releases and collaborations throughout their rise to fame.

Ahead of their Spring 2023 Season, Palace released their customary lookbook previewing the entire season’s offerings. Keen onlookers quickly noticed uncharted territory in the form of lightning bolts on UGG boots.

That’s right, in perhaps one of the most interesting collaborative efforts this year so far, Palace is linking up with California-based UGG, famed for their mid-calf boots. It’s certainly not a partnership that fans of either brand would have possibly imagined, but that also fits right up Palace’s ethos if you think about it.

Interestingly enough, UGG was created to help surfers recover their tired feet after riding the waves. It’s not too far of a stretch to imagine skaters doing the same after a long hard day at the skate park, possibly?

Working on what seems to be UGG’s iconic Classic Boot, Palace keeps it simple in terms of colors, with a brown and black variation that doesn’t stray too far from UGG’s current offerings. What stands out, of course, is the blue lightning bolt imagery embossed all over the Classic Boot.

Palace ensures you’ll do a double-take with their gigantic branding on the heel, outlined by the same blue lighting bolt all over the shoe. Rounding off the collaboration is the presence of both brands’ branding on the heel tab, arguably the most subtle feature of the design.

Whether you love or hate it, the Palace x UGG collaboration is set to release as part of Palace’s Spring 2023 Season. Expect to see this on Palace’s website and physical stores in the coming months. We’ll keep this post updated as soon as we get more information about this release.
