LeBron FaZes Up for His Upcoming Zoom NXXT Gen
Sports meets gaming once more on the hard court.
[Update 30 Jan 2023] FaZe Clan has officially unveiled their upcoming Nike LeBron NXXT Gen on their Instagram over the weekend. The gaming brand’s creative director, Jay “JVY” Richardson, describes the collaboration as “the analogy that just like motherboards buried underneath the shell of technology, all great talent comes from beneath, and we all use different internal functions to power us as athletes and gamers.”
For those looking to hoop in Bronny’s latest kicks, you can grab a pair off both Nike SNKRS and FaZe Clan’s website on 9th March.
While most sneakerheads and basketball fans most certainly know LeBron James and his signature series with Nike, some might be unaware of FaZe Clan, which in itself speaks of how novel this collaboration is.
FaZe Clan is one of the biggest esports-cum-entertainment organisations in the world. Starting out as a small group of friends posting Call of Duty videos on YouTube back in 2010, FaZe Clan now has over 80 professional gamers signed to their roster, along with rappers such as Offset and Lil Yatchy.
In more recent years, the Los Angeles-based gaming giants started venturing into the world of professional sports. Besides collaborating with sports teams such as Manchester City F.C., FaZe Clan has also been introducing athletes to their ranks. With this sneaker release in mind, there’s no inductee more apt than Bronny James, son of LeBron, who joined them back in 2020.
Fast forward three years, The King himself is set to work with the esports giants to create a shoe that will take the hard court. Working on the takedown model of the Nike LeBron 20s, the Nike LeBron NXXT Gen, ‘The Chosen One’ and FaZe Clan are set to debut the silhouette’s first official collaboration come 10th February.
First seen on James during an NBA game last month, the Nike LeBron NXXT Gen “FaZe Clan” largely takes on the colorway of the esports organization, sporting a mixture of red, black and white across the entire shoe. Coincidence or not, this color scheme also reminiscences the infamous “Bred” colorway that sneakerheads would be more familiar with.
The basketball shoe also boasts a construction of engineered mesh and leather across its upper, while a stitched on reflective Swoosh logo takes the lateral side of the shoe. A smaller embroidered Check overlaps it towards the heel of the sneaker, while both the FaZe Clan’s insignia as well as LeBron’s signature are featured prominently on the tongue tab.
Set to release on 10th February via Nike and select retailers, you’ll soon be able to battle it out on the hard court, be it virtually or physically, at a retail price of US$160. Take an official look at the Nike LeBron NXXT Gen “FaZe Clan” via the top slider above.
