In a couple of photos posted on his Instagram yesterday, Matthew M Williams, creative head honcho of Givenchy and 1017 ALYX 9SM, was seen together with Jamaican Dancehall musician Alkaline, presumably at a photoshoot for Givenchy’s SS23 campaign.

Alkaline was first featured on the French house’s SS22 campaign and Williams subsequently posted campaign images from both seasons to his account. But it wasn’t before long when sneaker fans started to notice the designer was wearing a never-before-seen pair of Nike Air Force 1 Low.

On the feet of Williams was a white pair of AF1 that appeared worn-in and dirtied. The construction and details look similar to a regular AF1’s including the “AIR” text on the midsole. But replacing the OG Nike Air Force 1 logo at the tongue is a mini black Nike Swoosh with a line of text that’s indiscernible from the pictures.

Mini Swooshes are a signature design element of Nike MMW, Williams’ collaborative line with Nike. The collaborators’ last outing was a pair of slip-on slides covered with holes—which also features the mini Swoosh on its forefoot.

According to Complex Sneakers, this pair of Nike MMW Air Force 1 Low “White” is a prototype that is a “work in progress”. Given that Williams first previewed the Nike Zoom MMW 005 slides via Instagram months before it launched, the Nike MMW Air Force 1 Low might be coming soon. Stay tuned for the latest on this pair and the Nike MMW collab.
