Swedish-French graffiti artist, André Saraiva known for his “Mr. A” alter ego proudly describes his vision as utopian and romantic. Known for “spreading love”, whether in the form of his stick figures or the names of loved ones, he took his art from the street to high-brow galleries and museums into the mix. On the second instalment, Saraiva will be interpreting five current adidas silhouettes in his own distinctive spin.

“A top hat and a Cheshire cat in its mouth,” is how one would describe Mr. A’s trademark that can be seen on the cherry-picked silhouettes—Forum Low Classic, NMB R1, Nizza Hi RF, Stan Smith, and W Forum Bold—tailored in their own right.

Starting off with the Forum Low Classic that comes in a full white leather construct with shaggy suede Three Stripes branding on the upper. With his signature illustrations adorning the mudguard, lateral ankle, heel, and tongue, all of which are highlighted in light blue, the artist maintained his own touch classic. The words “THE WORLD NEEDS LOVE” are also imprinted on the shoe’s medial side and toe cap. A distinctive dubrae with his signature that has the appearance of a ping pong ball protrudes to add some flair and dimension to the overall design.

The NMB R1, which draws influence from its OG design, is highlighted in light blue and pink, with a subdued “LOVE UNION” print on the side. To complete the design, additional similar dubrae are embellished. Likewise, the hopeless romantic artist applied his design concepts to the remaining silhouettes—the Nizza Hi RF, Stan Smith, and W Forum Bold—in a similar manner. Each pair is packaged in a unique, lovingly made shoe box.

This entire André Saraiva x adidas Originals “Love Union” collection will see a Japan-exclusive drop on 23 December, on adidas with a price ranging from 10,450 JPY (~US$80) and 14,300 JPY (~US$147).
