nonnative × UNDERCOVER OZISM Interprets Portraits of Modern Japanese
A tale to tell that coexists fashion as a form of self-expression and identity.
Japanese fashion labels nonnative and UNDERCOVER, both revered as cult names in high street fashion, have battled the distance to reunite with a capsule coexisting with nostalgic storytelling on the Portraits of Modern Japanese.
The collection consists of high-quality, casual, and modern clothing by fusing aspects of classic outerwear and workwear with subtle military references—paying homage to historical Japanese leaders who made significant contributions to modern Japanese society, including politicians, military personnel, entrepreneurs, educators, and artists. True to its essence, both the outwear, the sweatshirt, and the boots are achromatic, and the brands’ angular emblem is situated on the bottom left of each article of apparel. GORE-TEX and Polartec materials are used, living up to the practicality both powerhouses are known for.
Founders Satoshi Saffen and Jun Takahashi respectively are featured in the campaign outwardly donned in their latest creation. The concept centers around the juxtaposition of a modern native in the vicinity of a traditional house in the Japanese countryside bringing a man’s origins back, regardless of how far along in life he is.
The nonnative × UNDERCOVER OZISM Collection—The Portraits of Modern Japanese—is on its journey and anticipates a drop on the 11 December through UNDERCOVER and nonnative.
