First Look: atmos x adidas Adimatic “Patagonia”

atmos and adidas look to outdoor gear label Patagonia on their latest Adimatic sneaker.

[Update 29 Nov] With official images surfaced for the atmos x adidas Adimatic “Purple Suede”, an apparel collection is also slated to drop alongside it. Featuring a simple atmos x adidas logo t-shirt and hoodie with coloring inspired by the “Purple Suede”, the duo also recruited Japanese illustrator NALU for an exclusive graphic design for another set of apparel with his signature “TOBIDASE BOY” character. Set for a release on 3rd December for 13,200 JPY (~US$100), registration for the atmos x adidas Adimatic “Purple Suede” raffle draw is now opened on atmos’ official website.

Earlier this year, adidas brought back the Adimatic, the 90s cult skate shoe, via several big-name collabs such as the ones with HUMAN MADE and Bodega. The re-release stayed true to the Adimatic’s OG chunky design which features elements that are intentionally thickened, including its laces, midsole and the Three Stripes on the side.

Now, adidas is gearing up for another Adimatic drop. Following their classic “Shoebox” colorway crossover and a triple collab with XLARGE, the Three Stripes is once again tapping Japanese retailer atmos for another spin on the Adimatic. According to fresh leaks from Up To Date, this upcoming atmos x adidas Adimatic sneaker draws its inspiration from outdoor brands, specifically Patagonia.

Besides the thicc white midsole and gum outsole that we are now familiar with, the early images show the upper of the sneaker dress in vibrant purple, with additional pops of red coming from the cushioned insole. At the heel, an adidas Three Stripes logo is embroidered in red; another circular adidas logo appears in purple on the midsole. The rest of the design elements such as the thickened laces have been left untouched.

Aside from the images, not much else is known about the atmos x adidas Adimatic “Patagonia”. The revamped skate shoe is speculated to drop before the new year, so stay tuned for more updates!
