Shaquille O’Neal’s (or fondly known as Shaq) obsession with DC Comics’ Superman is a known fact about the court’s Big Man. His arm is tattooed prominently with the superhero’s logo while his (many) cars sport the iconic emblem. A lesser known fact is that Shaq, too, was the literal man of “Steel” — as in, the 1997 film in which the basketball star played the titular main hero. Coincidentally, Steel was also loosely based off the DC hero of the same name.

It’s a full circle moment that DC Comics and Reebok are banding together for a DC Comics x Reebok Shaq Attaq “Man of Steel” collaboration. As suggested by its name, the upper opts for a primarily two-tone gray look. Dark gray overlays are paired with steely lighter gray unders that extend into the soles. Superman’s brandishing colors, blue and red, are utilised as accents on leather-like panels. Reebok’s logo takes on a sunny yellow, perhaps a nod to Superman’s alternative red-yellow logo. To drive the collaboration home, the tongue’s Pump depicts the S-logo while the heel is embroidered with “Man of Steel”.

This DC Comics x Reebok Shaq Attaq “Man of Steel” is slated to drop on 2 Dec and will retail for US$180. More pictures available in the slider gallery above.

In other anticipated collaborations, check out this upcoming BAIT x Astro Boy x Reebok that’s retro-futuristic.
