It’s that time of the year, the colder months nigh, and as everyone’s wardrobe rotation changes, same for their footwear. But this time, they’ll get to keep their favorite Air Jordan 5 in their starting five. Retrofitted with a GORE-TEX membrane, expect the pair to bring the heat in the cold, much like Michael himself did in the Windy City.

Save for the aforementioned GORE-TEX overhaul, aesthetically the classic stays close to the blueprint, all its hallmarks a mainstay. The signature 3M reflective tongue still holds its place at the crown; the lace lock system and the TPU mesh window continue to give the shoe its character; and the P-51-inspired graphic on the mudguard remains distinct.

These Air Jordan 5 arrives with a primarily black upper giving contrast to the red accents seen on Jumpman on the tongue and heel, the lace lock, and the speckled, serrated graphic on the midsole. The GORE-TEX branding as well, finds its time in the sun by way of an embroidery on the lateral heel.

All these components held together through the translucent rubber outsole underfoot. There, another Jumpman shines along with the Jordan label debossed midfoot. Lest we forget, the air bubble unit towards the rear midsole.

They’re expected to arrive on 1 December at Nike’s brick-and-click with a RRP of US$220.

Elsewhere in Nike Town, check out the Nike Dunk High WMNS “Worn Blue”. The AJ 5 lives up to the “Air” in its name, the Dunk Highs gets inspired by it.
