Many sneakerheads exercise diligence in keeping their kicks as fresh as possible, applying Jason Markk with all other sorts of paraphernalia. Then there are those who do the extreme opposite. After all, there is beauty in imperfection. Wabi-sabi or not, there are some who like the overtly-worn, dirtied aesthetic even more than an unbroken, clean pair.

For them, Vans delivers the “Stressed” pack, pairs reminiscent of shoes that have been through the worst things life can throw. The ersatz weathering is applied all over the upper, midsoles, and laces of the OG Authentic LX.

A followup to the OG Old Skool LX, the sophomore batch will include three pairs in an off-white, black, and their signature checkerboard design. The motif is purported to be applied one by one, by hand, with black hues and strokes “tarnishing” the silhouettes. The same goes for the Vans Vault shoebox that the footwear will be delivered in, splattered black paint throughout.

The pair is scheduled to be available in Japan for ¥9,000 (≈US$70) from 11th November onwards. A global release is yet to be disclosed, but it should be coming in the following weeks.

Till then, check out their collaboration with British designer, Christopher Raeburn. Together, they’ve produced the antithesis of the “Stressed” pack, ironclad with GORE-TEX membrane.
