Bodega Brings Hairy Suede to the New Balance 9060 “Age of Discovery”
Shaggy suedes and muted blues.
[Update 3 May 2023] For those who missed out on the Bodega x New Balance 9060 “Age of Discovery” last year, you’re in luck. New Balance US has confirmed a restock on 5 May on their website, set at the retail price of US$179. However, this seems to only be for folks in the US, as there’s been no official announcements for other regions. Head over to the link in the sidebar and good luck!
[Update 21 Nov 2022] Official images and a release date for the newest Bodega x New Balance sneaker are here and, turns out, the inspiration for this collaborative New Balance 9060 is “modern renaissance”, with the model borrowing elements from ancient architecture and classical art, amongst other renaissance classics.
With a name like Bodega x New Balance 9060 “Age of Discovery”, the shoe rightly features nubuck on its upper in a steel blue hue to mirror an endless sky, and comes with shoe box printed with a “renaissance painting”. A release date of 10 December has been confirmed but its retail price is still unknown. Stay tuned for more updates!
There’s no denying it — New Balance has a new favored child, and it’s none other than the chunky 9060. Sustaining the best qualities of its source material, namely the 990 series, the 9060 modernly reinterprets the original through warping on the sole, lending it a look reminiscent of the Y2K tech era. In just a few months, NB has graced the silhouette with a substantial number of colorways, with Jack Harlow involved in the lookbook of the latest Burgundy design. And it seems like New Balance’s longtime collaborative partner Bodega has caught wind of the new model on the block, and is exercising its creative liberties on it.
The result is a vintage-looking blue/brown mix that fits in with Bodega’s history of rugged motifs. Most notably, the tongue and heel are dressed in a shaggy brown suede. Muted blue suede panels lay over similarly-colored mesh while deeper brown overlays finish off the upper. Co-branding is featured on the maroon insole. Purple is introduced sparingly on the N logo and eyelet as an accenting color. Overall, the shoe looks like something straight out of a 70’s coming-of-age movie.
According to Fullress, this Bodega x New Balance 9060 will be released in November. Besides that, not much else is known pricing-wise. As we wait on more information, why not check out the top slider for closer looks?
