Rick Owens may be a name known to many for his cult-inspired designs, but it is only until the moment you dive into the philosophy of them to understand the message his tries to evoke through his controversial works. Though not his first time partnering up with leather shoe label Dr. Martens, the latest offering of the 1460 and 1918 boots are still quite a bizzare take on classic footwear.

With the 1460, a soft yet heavyweight black luna leather fills the upper, adding a luxurious touch with gentle grains and distinctive shine across the body. Detailed with jumbo ‘Pearl’ laces and silver eyelets, it reminisce the signature look that Owens is known for.

On the other hand, the 1918 boots proves to be one that is unlike anything other, yet unsuprising for the avant garde fashion designer. Knowing of what Owens does with his past lace-up leather boots or kiss boots, this would just be another ‘ordinary’ pair to the loyal followers of the brand. Filled with platinum hair-on leather on the uppers, extra height was added to the top with extended laces and additional eyelets of the same color as the 1460, but this time in regular sizes.

As part of the collaboration, Owens recruited Ron Athey – an individual who he believes will set as an example of how elegant real transgression and individual searches for transcendence could be – for the campaign images.

Retailing for $370 and $750 respectively, the Dr. Martens x Rick Owens 1460 and 1918 boots will be available on 14th October via Dr. Martens, Rick Owens and selected retailers.
