Blue is a lonely color, but it's got a lot of new material for company.

There’re many ways to revive a staple, especially one that’s been around for more than four decades. Do a new colorway, a new print, a new pattern, collaborate with another brand or designer, contrive a backstory, et cetera. It sounds formulaic but they’re methods tried and tested.

One other which is seeing a huge rollout lately from Nike is the integration of of a multi-material construction as seen on the Nike Air Force 1 Low Multi Material “Black” and the Air Jordan 1 Mid “Multi-Material”. As the aforementioned, so is this Blazer Mid ’77 redux.

The signature exposed tongue is still a mainstay along with the suede overlays on the tip and a slice on the mudguard, albeit for this iteration, the suede application goes onto the eyestays and the heel as well. Color isn’t just limited to the Swooshes but on the fore of the midsole too. The tumbled leather upper sees division on the quarter with the material being replaced with canvas fabric. The sail midsole complements the tongue for a more consistent aged aesthetic.

Official images have been disseminated so a release date should be right behind. For now, they’ll go for US$110 at Nike’s brick-and-click.

While they bring the Blazer back, the Air Jordan 1 goes black. Check out the monochromatic AJ1’s in “Triple Black” set to drop in the coming weeks.
