First Look: Stone Island x New Balance 574 Legacy & Apparel
Stone Island and New Balance meet again, this time on the 574 Legacy.
[Update 21 Nov 2022] Official information has dropped for this Stone Island x New Balance 574 collaboration and accompanying co-branded football apparel. As seen from leaked images, a full football wear set with Stone Island x New Balance elements are readied along with a pair of Furon v7 cleats in matching patterns. Made for strikers, the spike utilises HYPOKNIT material upper that ensures a seamless, comfortable fit. It retails for JPY35,200 (~US$249).
Closer looks of the New Balance 574 Legacy has also been unveiled. As garnered from previous pictures, the tongue label carries the Stone Island Compass logo, and the recognisable Steel Blue colorway is a distinct nod to the New Balance 1300. This Stone Island x New Balance collection will be launched exclusively through Stone Island’s website on 21 Nov, but will see a subsequent general release on New Balance on 25 Nov.
After a polarizing, but undoubtedly innovative release of FuelCell RC Elite V2, Stone Island and New Balance have been revealed to be revamping another silhouette. This time around, the two brands are fusing their creative energies on an iconic pair that has an established standing in NB’s lineup: the 574 Legacy.
As established by New Balance on their website, the NB 574 Legacy is the elevated version of performance-focused 574 with a particular focus on aesthetic, resulting in a versatile canvas that has allowed the model to become a closet staple for varied personalities across the globe. This adaptability has been tapped on by Stone Island’s innovative creative team, who has a reputation of indulging in technology to push through boundaries of fashion.
Though we can’t say for sure what technological implementations Stone Island has infused into their collaborative NB 574 from the leaked pictures alone (courtesy of @jussycash), we are able to discern certain visual elements.
On the 574’s tongue is the Stone Island compass logo while the recognisable Steel Blue colorway makes an appearance on the toebox. Olive grays dominate the remaining curvatures on the upper, making it reminiscent of New Balance 1300. Laces and midsoles come in a pristine white while the outsole rounds out the look in black.
Stone Island x New Balance apparel have also been readied in the form of brown camouflage football jerseys and bottoms. Both brands’ logos are prominently printed onto the front, as per usual football jersey style.
No official release dates have rolled into our field, but we are confident they’ll come home soon given the leaked images.
In the meantime, check out the latest suedes that has joined the NB550 gang.
