[Update 19 Dec 2022] Cecilie Bahnsen’s haute couture sensibilities have returned on ASICS’ GEL line through a restock. Only 50 bespoke pairs were made in the previous drop, and its quick sell-out status perhaps prompted this renewed launch. They will be made available on Cecilie Bahnsen’s website on 20 Dec. Check out the top slider for more recent images of this collaboration.

[Update 20 Oct] First revealed during Paris Fashion Week SS23, it’s been confirmed that the Cecilie Bahnsen x ASICS upcycled collection features the ASICS GEL-1090, GEL-1130, GEL-NIMBUS 9, GEL-NIMBUS 23, and GEL-NIMBUS 24. The theme utilizes hand-stitched floral beads and appliqués. Each pair combines athletics with couture and is made to make having fun easy.

The 50 bespoke pairs from the Cecilie Bahnsen x ASICS recycled collection is set to release on 20 October 2022 at 9.25 p.m. (EDT) exclusively via Cecilie Bahnsen’s website. Prices range from €350 to €490 (about US$342 to US$479), with sizes ranging from EU 35.5 to EU 41.5.

LINE

Danish designer Cecilie Bahnsen brought a sense of romanticism back to Paris Fashion Week with seven pairs of co-designed ASICS sneakers from the ‘We Are Water’ collection. Breaking through the classic Scandinavian color palette of neutrals, the collaboration sees the brand apply its signature floaty aesthetic to the ASICS GEL-1130 and GEL-1090 silhouettes, offering a collection of reiterated sneakers that are truly one of a kind.

Cut-out flowers made of the same material as the GEL-1090’s upper are gently arranged on top of the sneaker, giving the runner style cues from the 1990s and 2000s by making it appear like a meadow. Since silver is an uncommon hue in the floral color scheme, its appearance on the shoes wonderfully reflects the personalities of both partners and are also wearable, keeping all audiences in mind.

As for the GEL-1130, Bahnsen gives the shoe a full spring green flower patch (along with orange and blue variations), working the toe and heel to make it appear as though the shoe has been immersed in a field of petals or possibly used as a plant pot to grow said attachments.

Finally, a number of very tailored pairs debuted on the runway. The GEL-NIMBUS appears in silver with a less recognizable dramatic array of silver floral appliqués, second pair showing up in all black and a final pair in blue and white.

‘We Are Water’ is unveiled with an inclusion of ready-to-wear apparel, extending its contemporary appeal, inspired by the women around her and her search for couture in the everyday.
