ALD’s Teddy Santis Presents: New Balance 990v2 Made in USA
A first look of the upcoming 990v2 in a muted olive colorway.
Aimé Leon Dore head honcho, Teddy Santis has made his mark in the fashion and lifestyle space in a considerable short amount of time. If running his own boutique in the past eight years isn’t enough on his plate, he also holds the position as Creative Director in New Balance’s Made In USA division—and that’s no small title.
A position he’s held in the last two years, and a job he’s done well indubitably, bringing a revival of even the most obscure models like the titular 990v2. Sure, the aforementioned has had a cult following since its debut in 1998, but when the king of Mulberry Street exercises his Midas touch, he can turn it into gold—as he’s done. Now, the 24-year-old silhouette sits as one of the fore in NB’s most popular catalogue.
For the first look of this upcoming colorway, the 990v2 is presented in a multi-textured, olive and beige suede garb, echoing the tones of the arriving autumn. A grey mesh base forms the chassis of the sneaker, with olive overlays engulfing the upper, broken by the beige heel wrapping at the rear third of the shoe. Sail appears on the tongue and the midsole for the aged aesthetic—a design trend NB and ALD haven taken and run away with. Finally, black comes in through the branding elements and text spread across the footwear.
Information is sparse at the time of writing, but let’s take what we can get for now. Enjoy these images, courtesy of @dane3fune.
