In an unexpected team-up, luxury fashion house Alaïa and Italian footwear brand Superga have joined hands for a collection of lifestyle sneakers.

This marks the fashion label’s first foray into sneakers, and while many people were surprised that Alaïa did not choose to work with bigger names like Nike or adidas, the collaborative sneakers sure did not disappoint.

Alaïa was known for its classic silhouettes on the runway. Under Pieter Mulier’s creative direction, the Paris-based brand has been given a new lease of life and is attracting a younger, more modern audience. For their first partnership with Superga, Pieter and team have kept the design of the sneakers classic and clean, with an Alaïa touch.

The Alaïa x Superga collab comprises of four sneakers—two low-top versions and two platform silhouettes—each version coming in a white canvas and a textured leather colorway.

The lateral sides now feature emblematic double “A” stitches and perforated eyelets (an Alaïa signature), and come with an Alaïa x Superga co-branded satin label. The leather insoles are also debossed with the luxury brand’s logo.

All four sneakers are already available for purchase on Alaïa’s webstore. Prices range from US$460 for the canvas low-top version to US$730 for the black leather pair.
