One cannot mention collaborative sneaker partnerships without bringing up KITH and Ronnie Fieg’s longstanding relationship with ASICS. Far from a fling or short-term commitment, the designer’s intense passion for the Kobe-born brand has spanned a decade and culminated in over 50 pairs of shoe releases. Among them, the ASICS Gel-Lyte III has been a favored model, with a co-branded Moncler pair and a 30-colorway Gel-Lyte III anniversary project under the KITH x ASICS umbrella.

And it seems like Ronnie Fieg’s flame with the silhouette continues to burn bright in 2022, with the man himself posting onto Twitter that he has gifted a “Super Orange” sample to Junya-san (or Junya Matano), the Tokyo director of KITH. He is fuels the fire by stating that “There’s something special coming with ASICS this year…” and accompanying his tweet with an image of an orange-accented ASICS Gel-Lyte III.

With a predominantly off-white upper, the design employs the standard mix of a mesh base and suede overlays. Its pared back foundation is meant to accentuate the citrusy orange that dons the ASICS’ stripes, see-through panel on the toe and ASICS branding on the midsole. Junya Matano adds on to our knowledge of the collaborative shoe in his own social media showcase of the sample, showcasing that the sole also features a bright orange panel:

Though these online signalling pretty much confirms that a KITH x ASICS Gel-Lyte III “Super Orange” is on its way to production, no official release dates have been revealed. Rest assured — we’ll definitely keep you updated once we hear of any news.
