When a picture of a badly-lit Yeezy Slide prototype in blue first made its appearance on Twitter, it was somewhat of a meme. People compared it to a lump of Play-Doh, a fruit snack, surgeon shoes… The list of ridicule goes on. No one likes being the butt of jokes, and the blue Yeezy Slides went straight back into Kanye’s brutalism cave and was never heard of again.

But perhaps the shoe was merely ahead of its time. Now, with the blue Yeezy Slide’s neutral sibiling colorways Onyx and Bone becoming a big hit among street fashion icons, adidas is debuting the cobalt blue Yeezy Slide “Azure” (yes, it now has a name!).

The one-piece EVA foam is molded to look like Japanese sandals, and is slightly texturized. The footbed is branded with adidas’ Three Stripes logo while Yeezy lands just under the forefoot strap. The outsole, like its counterparts, has the recognizable V-shaped grooves that allow for optimal flexibility and traction.

These Yeezy Slide Azure is expected to be a Fall release and will be made available via adidas Confirmed and Yeezy Supply. Given previous retail prices, this pair of slides should retail for US$70. For exact release dates, check back to SNKRDUNK Magazine.
