Those attracted to thematic and bold designs will be familiar with LA-based imprint Brain Dead. With an inventory of in-house and collaborative projects that continue to inventive and interesting, the collective now look towards Reebok’s Club C Revenge, one of their previous partners, to explore nature’s textures.

To understand this concept, we must first acknowledge that the Reebok Club C Revenge was originally a tennis court shoe from 1985. Brain Dead’s co-founder Kyle Ng leverages on these roots, expounding that the team “wanted to find a material that reminded us of natural ground, we thought about tennis courts and grass – from there it sprouted.”

And sprouted they did! This Brain Dead x Reebok Club C Revenge has uppers that are constructed with shaggy suede reminiscent of moss. Overlayed on top is a shorter-haired suede, accentuating the overgrown (and possibly still growing) mossy texture of the shoe. Smooth leather finds its way on the tongues, heels and on the Vectors on the side panel. Branding details are spotted on the lateral side, taking over Reebok’s usual spot. Rounding off the whole nature-esque look are fuzzy laces.

The shoe will be available in two colorways. The Purple Abyss/Dark Forest/Batik Blue rendition gives off a truer forest moss look while the Soft Ecru/Dark Forest/Tin Gray presents a softer blue, marine moss aesthetic.

This Brain Dead x Reebok Club C Revenge will be made available on Brain Dead’s website on 9 August, 10 AM PT (10 August, 1 AM SGT). Subsequently, a global release will take place on Reebok’s site on 12th August. These kicks will retail for USD$120.

In other collaboration projects, Pawnshop is coming together with Nike to refresh the Nike SB Dunk High.
