Will This Mongoose x Vans Authentic 44 DX Be Your Ride or Die?
Under Vans' "Anaheim Factory Collection", this Mongoose x Vans Authentic 44 DX collaboration exudes retro vibes.
Though Vans is undoubtedly a staple in the skateboarding, the Southern California-based brand also has deep roots in BMX and has sponsored top riders. They even have their own BMX team and has produced various races and events. It is no surprise then that Vans has partnered up with famed bicycle brand Mongoose to redesign the Vans Authentic 44 DX.
This collaboration spawns three sneaker designs and two sweatshirt colorways; it’s a mini capsule that packs a punch. The first Mongoose x Vans Authentic 44 DX is relatively straightforward, with the upper retaining its usual black canvas with white contrast stitching. The star of this redesign is the sole unit, which has adopted a tri-color look of burgundy red, orange and yellow. Along its length is the Mongoose logo repeated. This design appears on the collaboration’s black sweatshirt, which overlays a red/orange/yellow gradient onto Vans’ and Mongoose’s logo.
Next up is the collaboration’s leading design — a bold red, white and blue checkerboard canvas that sits above a rubber bike-ready sole. Detailed on the white sole is the Mongoose branding in red and blue. This red/white/blue checkerboard design also carries forward to the collection’s sweatshirt, which has the Mongoose and Vans branding in the same colors.
The final design takes on gentler look, with pastel pink and blue as its color palette. The upper is divided into a baby blue toe box and pink/blue checks. Outlining the shoe’s sole and collar is the same salmon pink. Notably, the sole reads “Mongoose Expert”, likely a nod to Mongoose’s vintage frame of the same name.
This Mongoose x Vans collaboration, which is a part of Vans’ Anaheim Factory Collection, will drop on 22 July. The Mongoose x Vans Authentic 44 DX will retail for US$80. For more images, keep scrolling!
