[Update 29 Aug 2022] After a long wait, official images of the New Balance 9060 “Classic Grey”, also known to many as the 9060 “Rain Cloud”, are finally out! The brightly-lit, studio-grade images provide a better view of the silhouette’s chunky, wavy sole unit. The colourway’s special New Balance logo on the inner face also can now be seen in full, adding a unique flair to an otherwise neutral colourway. Besides official images, we now have more release information, such as the style code and European raffles scheduled for 3 Sep 2022, 00:00 CEST. The New Balance 9060, which is a bulky, wavy silhouette inspired by the designs of the NB 990 and 99X series, has been seen before. Earlier this year, Joe Freshgoods continued his extensive collaboration with New Balance to produce the Y2K-esque NB9060 “Penny Cookie Pink” in eye-catching tones of pink, cream and teal. This week, the NB9060 will once again hit storefronts in “Mindful Grey”/”Sea Salt”, not a long shot away from the newly-leaked “Classic Grey”.

This leaked addition to the lineup features the same futuristic, curvy design lines as its predecessors. It differs in its colourway choice, turning away from vibrant tones to instead take on muted “Classic Grey” colours. Though the light and dark grey tones, white, sail and cream are all relatively neutral, the overall lack of intense colours allows for a subtle contrast within the colourway, proving that sometimes less is more.

Besides the chunky midsole and various textures along the upper, the other element that stands out is the shiny rubber NB 9060 logo on the tongue, providing a touch of saturation to an otherwise greyscale colourway.
