Sneaker store DEAL, which is based in China, has assisted brands including Jeff Staple, PHANTACi, and NSC through a number of Reebok collaborations. And for the latter’s upcoming partnership, they’ll once more be working with the former, this time to honor the Ancient Tea Horse Road with two silhouettes: PUMA Suede and TRC Blaze.

The DEAL x NSC x PUMA Suede is ostensibly the first version of the silhouette to include tearaway uppers, and it initially appears to be somewhat understated. The shoe has a pale yellow color throughout much of its construction, which is primarily made of a synthetic material with a grid-like structure. When worn, whether intentionally or not, the shoe will then show a map of the Tea Horse Road. On the coordinating TRC Blaze, which is now assembled with earth-tone suedes, pops of scarlet and jade green, and embroidered characters that allude to the overall motif, the latter graphic also appears.

The Ancient Tea Horse Road, commonly referred to as Chamagudao locally, features one of the most fascinating landscapes in addition to an unlimited amount of cultural heritage. Yunnan, Guizhou, and Sichuan in southwest China were traversed by a network of meandering caravan routes to transport tea, salt, and other goods. Starting in the Chinese region of Sichuan, the 2250-kilometer trail continues to Lhasa, the capital of Tibet.

The DEAL x NSC x PUMA collection is showcased in greater detail above. The PUMA Suede and TRC Blaze will be made available only through DEAL’s brick-and-mortar in April.
