The New Balance 580 Returns in “Grey/Navy”
A classic color scheme meets a classic silhouette.
The New Balance 580 might not be at the top of every sneakerhead’s bucket list, but it certainly has an interesting history. Conceived in 1996 as a Japanese exclusive iteration of the Made in USA 585s, it would take almost 11 years for the silhouette to finally launch outside of Japan. Since then, a steady stream of 580s would make its way to retailers worldwide, with this “Grey/Navy” being the most recent of the lot.
This upcoming New Balance 580 “Grey/Navy” is a New Balance sneaker through and through. As the title suggests, varying shades of grey and navy share the uppers of this 580. The ever-famous New Balance grey adorns most of the uppers’ suede overlays, with pockets of navy and cream appearing in and around the mesh underlays beneath it.
A further dose of navy is shot into the Rollbar-infused sole unit, tongue and heel branding spots. To compliment the grey and navy hues, a white palette washes over much of the tongue and, midsole and inner lining, creating a colorway that’s clean and iconic.
The New Balance 580 “Grey/Navy” arrives today at New Balance as well as select retailers worldwide.
