Even with a slew or rather, a barrage, of retro Jordan releases slated for next year, the Jumpman still has plenty of bullets to load into the chamber. The Craft series they’ve been putting out as of late, involves retrofitting their silhouettes with new materials and construction. One already subsumed into the series is the Air Jordan 4 and its successor is the next inductee.
From what’s discernible from the images, the Air Jordan 5 features a textured fabric shaping the base layer and the tongue. Framing it are distressed suede overlays on the mudguard, collar and heel counter. A denim like fabric forms the interior and the tongue lining, while red makes the Jumpman embroidery on the tongue. Flat hiking boot laces, atypical of the brand, are introduced for the first time.
While reinvention is the ethos of the series, many of the shoe’s signature’s are a mainstay. The P-51 Mustang-inspired graphic on the midsole, the mesh window on the lateral, and the crystal rubber outsole with another Jumpman branding visible through it on the forefoot.
A release date has been scheduled for 17 June next year with a RRP of US$210. That’s a good half a year away from the time of writing but should anything change, believe we’ll get the word to you when word gets to us.
