As OGs of the Japanese fashion scene, NEIGHBORHOOD and Yohji Yamamoto have circled each other’s orbits but usually occupy different spaces in the garment scene. But as 2022 draws to a close, the two labels are meeting in the middle to generate a collaboration that’s strangely straightforward.

Straightforward as in having logos plastered across the usual streetwear staples of tees, hoodies and jackets. In black, of course. Such a display is not-so-peculiar on NEIGHBORHOOD’s part, whose streetwear lean makes such a design a common appearance in its collections. But it is unexpected of Yohji Yamamoto, especially since this collaboration is with the main avant-garde POUR HOMME line and not any of the brand’s more liberal diffusions. Understandably, enthusiasts of the designer would be less shocked to see a multi-layered t-shirt than this collaborative tee plastered with the Yohji Yamamoto POUR HOMME logo.

This is perhaps one of the few collaborations whereby novelty exists in its simple execution, but appreciation of such a move is largely divided. Regardless, pieces that boast these two iconic Japanese brands are not a common occurrence, and this rarity in itself warrants value.

Alongside the apparel capsule is NEIGHBORHOOD’s quintessential incense chamber, which has made an appearance in many of the label’s partnerships. This edition sees a porcelain-like skeleton flicking you off while wrapped in a cloak painted with Yohji Yamamoto’s flower motif.

The entire NEIGHBORHOOD x Yohji Yamamoto POUR HOMME will drop on 9 Dec on NEIGHBORHOOD’s webshop. Retail Prices are as follows:

1. MA-1 JACKET: US$1106

2. HOODED LS: US$438
