Nike has always been on a roll manufacturing sneakers with Chinese New Year themes, and it is getting ready for the year known to be the luckiest. Tracing backwards, the Air Force 1s were chosen in 2011 to represent the rabbit. And after 12 years in the Chinese zodiac cycle, the highly coveted Dunk Lows are picked to cross a river with a strong current and arrive at the finish line on the coast of 2023.

This rendition of the Dunk Low pays homage to the Air Force 1 with a grey suede foundation, white leather overlays, and crimson and royal Swooshes on the side panels. The Swoosh and tongue tags have been enhanced with white tufts that resemble fleece to better reflect the furry characteristics of the rabbit, the fourth animal to complete the Chinese zodiac race.

On the counter and the insole, the representative animal is embossed and printed. The Chinese character for rabbit 兔 (tù) is stitched in white threads on top of the red fluff to emphasize the allusions and is concluded with a blue dubrae inscribed with the year 2023.

No firm release date has been disclosed by Nike but the Nike Dunk Low “Year of the Rabbit” is expected to arrive some time in January 2023.
